How I Subtly Stood up to Ignorance

I thought my day had ended. Little did I know that it was just getting started.

It was a beautiful Sunday evening. A day well spent. I took out the trash, cleaned the apartment, went shopping(after being stuck at home for almost a month), cooked dinner, and listened to my favorite song over and over again.

My brother, who rarely bothers to do any of the things mentioned above (other than listening to music), barged into my room yelling something unintelligible. Between his high-speed entrance and high-pitched rambling what I could make out was something about people standing outside and something happening to somebody.

I rushed out of my apartment to find an old woman wailing. It took me a few seconds to see the trail of blood leading from the balcony of her apartment to the hallway outside. I knew in my heart that this image would be etched in my memory forever. Although my attempts to console her were in vain, I managed to figure out the story behind the pool of blood.

As it turns out, a harmless argument between the old lady’s daughter and her husband ended up in a disaster. In his anger, the furious husband punched a large sliding balcony door, which crumbled down into his arms and feet, gravely injuring him. As all the parties involved were on their…
