Do you have to be good at something to pursue it?

I am thinking no

I like to doodle. It was something that I picked up during the pandemic. When you have much to do, you try everything to keep yourself engaged.

I was not an expert but I continued to goof around with it because it was an enjoyable thing to do. The straight lines that I drew while doodling were not straight and the curves were uneven. No two shapes were symmetrical.

Someone close to me said it was not worth pursuing as it was a silly pastime that I would grow out of. I was not good at it and neither was I getting better at it. So, why try?

I also made the blunder of showing it to another friend who offered me many hacks to improve it. He recommended me to take up a course that would help me improve my doodling skills.

I declined politely.

Maybe they had my best interests in mind. But I don’t need a tutorial or a course to enhance my artistic prowess.

Not every sprinter is training for the Olympics. Not every athlete gets to participate in the Olympics. Sometimes they don’t even complete the race. And it is ok.
